What army uniform cloth is made of
Service uniforms run on poly-viscose: polyester for tensile strength, abrasion resistance and wash fastness, viscose for breathability and a comfortable hand through long duty hours. The blend takes a hot press well, which is what keeps a parade crease sharp.
Olive and khaki are unforgiving dyes. A shade that drifts warmer or lighter after twenty washes stands out badly beside uniforms issued a year earlier, so fastness to both washing and sunlight is part of the brief, not an extra.
