Suiting for evening wear
Benny Cotts weaves suiting for tuxedos, dinner suits and formal evening uniforms, supplied to tailors, ethnic and formal wear brands, and hospitality uniform makers. Greige cloth is woven on our own looms at Village Atoon, Bhilwara, and dyeing, processing and finishing run through partnered Bhilwara processing houses. We are ISO 9001:2015 certified.
Evening wear is judged under lights. A black that looks grey or brownish next to another garment spoils a line-up, so we work to a locked shade reference and hold the approved lot on file for reorders.
What tuxedo fabric is made of
Traditional tuxedos use wool. In India, most dinner suits and formal hospitality evening wear use premium poly-viscose suiting: it holds a deep black, resists creasing through a long evening and is easier to clean. A twill weave gives the smooth surface and slight sheen evening wear needs. Satin lapels and facings are a separate trim the tailor adds. See [formal attire suiting fabric](/guides/formal-attire-suiting-fabric) and the [suiting glossary](/guides/fabric-type-glossary-uniform-suiting).

Black, midnight navy and matching
Jet black is the default, and midnight navy is the classic alternative that can look even darker under artificial light. Whichever you choose, approve the shade on a lab dip under the light where it will be worn, and order jackets and trousers from the same lot. Our [lab dips guide](/guides/lab-dips-and-shade-approval) explains shade approval.
How to order black-tie suiting fabric
Send three things: your shade reference (a swatch, a garment already in service or a colour code), the garments and quantities, and whether you are a company buying direct or a uniform maker buying for stock. Stock shades ship from 50 m per shade, which suits a trial run or a small site. Custom shades and constructions are woven to order from 500 m per shade after lab dip approval, and the approved lot is held on file so reorders match. Price is on request and depends on quality, shade and quantity. Start with the Request Catalog form or WhatsApp, and see our [guide to sampling](/guides/uniform-fabric-sampling-guide) before a large order.

FAQ
Fabric for Black-Tie Attire: common questions
- What fabric is used for a tuxedo?
- Classic tuxedos use wool. In India, most tuxedos and dinner suits use premium poly-viscose twill suiting around 230-250 GSM, which holds a deep black, resists creasing and is easier to care for. Power Gold is our usual choice.
- Which black suiting fabric does not fade?
- A polyester-rich poly-viscose suiting holds black better than cotton or pure viscose. Lasting depth also depends on dyeing and care, so wash and press to the care label.
- Can I get matching black for a whole banquet team?
- Yes. We work to one approved shade reference and keep the approved lot on file, so jackets and trousers match across the team and on reorders. Custom shades start at 500 m per shade after lab dip approval.
- What is the minimum order for tuxedo fabric?
- Stock shades ship from 50 m per shade. Custom shades are woven to order from 500 m per shade after lab dip approval. Price is on request.
- Tuxedo ya black suit ke liye kaunsa kapda lena chahiye?
- Tuxedo ke liye 230-250 GSM ka premium poly-viscose twill suiting accha rehta hai. Isme kala rang gehra dikhta hai, silwat kam padti hai aur fall sundar hota hai.
- Which fabrics work best for black-tie attire?
- We recommend Power Gold, Fine Strip Dobby, Grado 1st and Lining Super Class, each suited to the demands of black-tie attire. Every fabric ships with spec and MOQ.
- Do you manufacture fabric for black-tie attire yourself?
- Yes. Benny Cotts (Shree Ram Synthetics Pvt. Ltd.) is an ISO 9001:2015 certified fabric manufacturer in Bhilwara, Rajasthan. Cloth for black-tie attire is woven on our own looms at Village Atoon, and dyeing, processing and finishing run through partnered Bhilwara processing houses, so we control the construction and the shade on every reorder.
- What is the minimum fabric order for black-tie attire?
- 50 m per shade from ready stock, and 500 m per shade for custom shades or constructions woven to order.
- Can you match a specific shade for black-tie attire?
- Yes. Custom shades are matched to your approved standard and woven to order from 500 m per shade, then held as a dye lot so reorders stay consistent.
