The challenge
A plant's twill workwear was tearing at the knees and elbows well before its expected service life, driven by abrasion on the factory floor rather than washing.
Our approach
- We reviewed sample torn garments to identify the stress points and recommended a heavier, higher-tensile twill construction for those areas.
- A pilot batch was issued to one shift for 90 days of real floor use before the full plant order was placed.
- Dye-lot consistency was locked in from the pilot batch so the eventual volume order matched it exactly, avoiding a second qualification round.
Outcome
Garment replacement driven by tearing dropped significantly after the switch, without changing the plant's wash routine.
